FANTASTIC ELEMENTS OF SUZAN SÖZEN'S NOVEL "KİRALIK RUH"
Events that people experience but can not make sense of in all areas of life from oral cultural products to written cultural products from the basic of fantastic elements. Fantastic elements seen in every product from legends to fairy tales and fol tales, also show themselves in novel. In fantastic works that convey the author's endless imagination to the reader she creates magics, spell, giants, dwarfs, devils, fairies, mythological characters, gods alternative times and a world that help people thinks and develop their imagination can also adress society's problems. The conflicts experienced by fantastic heroes and the war between good and evil can be deepered by relating them to real life within the context of the author's imagination. The foundations of fantastic literature date back to Antiquity Products such as Beowolf and The Epic of Gilgamesh can be considered among the oldest epics containing fantastic products. Fantastic literature has regained popularity today with works such as Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, Game of Thrones. These works have influenced and attracted the attention of both young and adult readers. Fantastic elements that affect Turkish literature as well as Western literature are also seen in works such as Yaratılış Destanı, Dede Korkut Hikâyeleri, Oğuz Kağan Destanı, Mo’nun Gizemi, Dirilen İskelet, Puslu Kıtalar Atlası, Efrâsiyâb’ın Hikâyeleri.Suzan Sözen, one of the most popular female authors of the 1950s and 1960s, also used fantastic elements in her novels. Cannot be said that Suzan Sözen who attracted great attention in Western literature with her works, created the same interest in Turkish literature. The author's novel, Kiralık Ruh, is rich in fantastic elements. The souls of the main characters in the novel Semiramis, Nazım and Didar, add a fantastic dimension to the work. In this study, the fantastic elements contained in Suzan Sözen's novel Kiralık Ruh were tried to be examined.
