In this study, commercial grade 2 titanium was used as a sample. Acid etching was applied to the grade 2 titanium samples used, and the effects on surface properties were examined. Titanium metal is preferred for implant procedures due to its high corrosion resistance property, especially in terms of biocompatibility. The main reasons for the implementation of this study are to obtain titanium implants with high biocompatibility surface properties and to examine the related parameters. We have 7 grade 2 titanium samples, and therefore, 7 experiments are aimed to be conducted. Our samples were prepared in quarter-circle shape with a diameter of 21 mm and a thickness of 9 mm. The acids used in etching in this study were determined as HCl, HNO3 , and HF. Etching time was applied for 10 minutes, and the temperature was performed as 25⁰C and 60⁰C. Surface roughness values were measured with a profilometer device before and after acid etching process. SEM and AFM devices were used to examine surface morphology and topography. Contact angle measurement device was used to interpret wetting ability. Comparisons were made according to the experimental results. Among the obtained results, surfaces with surface roughness values of 0.5-2.5 µm were determined as the most suitable.
