Cittaslow stands for ‘calm city’ and is a worldwide, fast-paced settlement, which is the choice of those who want to get rid of the tempo and urban crowd areas. Translated into Turkish as calm/slow city and it is a response to the uniform life culture that has become widespread in the world with the effect of globalisation. The Cittaslow movement, born as a reaction, emerged in Italy. Movement first as a symbol of fast life, he opposed the fastfood food culture, and in time It has evolved into a philosophy of life based on different criteria. Cittaslow is an association of municipalities aiming to protect what is local. In addition, this title is also very important because it protects the quality of life, environment, sustainability and local culture of the cities. Founded with the coming together of four municipalities in Italy, this association of municipalities has spread all over the world over time. In Turkey, Seferihisar was the first city to join the Cittaslow municipality network. Seferihisar received this title in 2009 and the interest in the city has increased significantly since then. Seferihisar, which is a city in its own way in the south of Izmir, has become recognised all over Turkey with the title of calm city and has entered the process of change. With this title, the city has become attractive for local and foreign tourists and has become a centre of attraction especially for those who prefer a quiet life. In Seferihisar, while the city population did not increase much before the title, there has been a significant increase in the population after receiving the Cittaslow title. Among the main reasons for this increase are the emergence of new job opportunities as a result of the increase in tourism activities after the title and the settlement of those who prefer a quiet life in Seferihisar. Population growth has also brought along a series of environmental problems. The most important of these problems is the construction and improper land use due to population growth. This study aims to examine the population characteristics of Seferihisar, Turkey's first calm city. With this study, it is aimed to reveal the changes in the population characteristics of Seferihisar after receiving the title of calm city. Descriptive analysis was used as the basic research method in the study. Statistical data from various public institutions and organisations were examined and the study was visualised with these data sets and various maps and graphs.
