In this research, AISI 316L steel, which is one of the stainless steels that are used extensively in the modern manufacturing industry but have a very limited number of studies on fiber laser cutting, was used as a workpiece. Within the scope of the research, the average surface roughness of stainless steels cut with different cutting parameters with a fiber laser beam was measured and the effects of each parameter on the surface roughness were investigated. When the Ra results of all experiments were examined, it was understood that the laser power and laser cutting speeds were generally positively affected by the parameter increase and therefore the Ra values tended to decrease. As a consequence of fiber laser cutting experiments, when the highest and lowest Ra values were compared proportionally with each other, it was revealed that the lowest Ra value was 56.21% less than the highest Ra value. When all the results obtained from the experimental research were evaluated together, it was understood that the most suitable cutting parameters for high quality processing of the stainless steel material used as the workpiece in this study with the fiber laser beam were 2400 W laser power and 1800 mm/min cutting speed, respectively. Moreover, when the relationship between laser cutting parameters and the obtained results was examined, it was found that there was an inverse proportion between the laser power and cutting speed and the Ra values.
