Prayer has an important place in human life. Problems experienced, needs that need to be met and targeted desires drive people to pray. In addition, humans are naturally helpless and have limited means. They feel the need to take refuge in a powerful and transcendent being who will eliminate their troubles, solve their problems and fulfill their desires. The being who can meet these needs and expectations is the Lord who created them and the universe. Indeed, praying provides many benefits to humans in terms of mental and physical health. Because through prayer, people present their desires to their creator. In this way, they gain feelings that give them spiritual strength such as peace, happiness, morale, motivation and resistance, and their hope for the future grows. With the positive effects of prayer, psychological problems decrease and their mental and physical health improves. Due to such benefits, the concept of prayer is encouraged in the Quran on various occasions. Sometimes, through prophets, sometimes through pious people and sometimes through sample prayers, its nature is taught to the addressees. Thus, while teaching how to pray, the addressees are also taught some good qualities such as patience, gratitude, honesty, devotion and self-criticism through prayer. For example, the prayer of Prophet Abraham, who asked God to create a generation that believes and does good deeds, makes people aware of faith and good deeds. The verses about people who ask God to give them the strength to resist against the enemy teach people to be patient and resilient in the face of difficulties. Or, the fact that prophets who made some mistakes confessed their own mistakes and made self-criticism gives people the understanding that in the face of such and similar situations, people should realize their own mistakes and review their thoughts and behaviors. In addition to these benefits, people are also instilled with the awareness of being responsible through prayer. In this regard, it is stated in the Quran that the prayers of those who believe and fulfill the requirements of their faith in practice will be answered. Keywords: Quran, praye
