Özet:
(AI):
In this study, the interface shear strength behavior between the different types of soils and PVC GM was investigated. Low plasticity clay (LC), crushed sand (CS), and crushed gravel (CG) were used to determine effect of the grain size on the interface shear behavior. The thicknesses of PVC GMs were 1.5 and 3.0 mm. Also, the GMs were kept 0.5 molar saltwater for 4 and 16 months to determine the saltwater effects in constructions built close to the coastline. The internal and interface shear strength parameters were obtained by using medium scale direct shear device (100 x 100 mm). The traditional shear strength parameters were obtained from soil – soil interface experiments and the interface parameters were obtained from soil – GM interface experiments. The direct shear tests were carried out under the normal stress values of 49, 98 and 196 kPa. The experimental test results showed that soils with larger particles have higher interface friction angles. The lowest difference between the friction angles of both interfaces is in low plasticity clay, while the highest difference is in crushed gravel. The critical conclusions to be drawn from this study are that there is a 26.6% reduction in the interface friction angle of the PVC GM used in the foundation, even after 16 months, in the structures built close to the coastline.
