This study aims to determine the effects of salt stress on the germination and seedling development of Berseem (Trifolium alexandrinum L.).The research was conducted at the Field Crops Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Siirt University, under controlled conditions at 25±1 °C. The plant material of the study consisted of the Efsane cultivar of Berseem (T. alexandrinum L.). The laboratory study was set up in Petri dishes with 4 replications according to randomized complete plots design. In the study, salt (NaCl) doses of 0 mM, 50 mM, 100 mM, 150 mM, and 200 mM were the subject of the investigation. Measurements were conducted on 10 plants randomly selected from each petri dish at the end of the 7th day. Germination parameters such as germination percentage, average germination time, germination uniformity coefficient, germination index, and germination energy, as well as seedling parameters such as seedling fresh weight and seedling vigor index, were investigated in the study. It was determined that Trifolium alexandrinum seeds germinated more slowly with increasing salt concentrations. Significant reductions were observed in all germination and seedling development parameters examined as salt concentrations increased. In all the germination and seedling growth traits examined, the negative effects of salinity generally began at a dose of 100 mM. It was determined that Berseem is tolerant to low salt concentrations, such as 50 mM.
