In this study, the effects of the temperation thermal process applied after the waterprocess of the AISI 1020 steel on the mechanical characteristics of the steel were studied. The samples were waterprocedure at 880 °C and then the samples were tempered at three different temperatures (450, 550 and 650 °C) for 1 hour.As a result of the drawing tests applied on samples; the highest drawing and flow resistance value and the lowest break extension value was obtained at 450 °C, the lowest temperation temperature. It is observed that with increased temperation temperature, the pull and flow resistance decreased, and the break extension increased. On the other hand, when the micro-structure changes of the samples were studied, the three samples also observed the brain, the remaining esthenite, ferrit and martensite structures.Compared to other samples, the temperation process at 450 °C was found that the martensite structure was more intense in the sampled. With the increased temperation temperature there have been decreases in the martensite structure in the samples. Keywords: aisi 1020, temperation temperature, drawing resistance, flow resistance.
