There is progress in understanding of children’s cognitive and social development.Research has increased with regard to the self-regulating skills that are critical for academic success, and the study of the factors that affect the self-regulating skills has begun to include studies on the development of this skill that is important.The ability to self-regulate affects the children’s literary, numerical-matematical, language and social skills.In the pre-school period, self-regulating skills are developing significantly.The development of self-regulating skills in children positively affects their academic skills and social development in the upcoming school years.It is an important skill that in a different way predicts children’s school success in a unique way.Self-regulation represents the whole of skills acquired in relation to controlling, managing and planning the perceptions, emotions and behaviors of a person (schunk and zimmerman, 1997).Children's mental processes and self-regulating skills and behaviors develop significantly in the first few years of life.The studies conducted reveal the impact of self-regulating ability in the absence of a successful and happy teen and adult.There are many factors that affect the ability to self-regulate which is critical to support in early childhood.In this article, the factors affecting the ability to self-regulate in early childhood have been discussed and discussed in the light of literature.Recommendations for families and teachers have been presented for the development of self-regulation skills that are critical for development in the early period.There are recommendations for research to be conducted in the future.
