XIX. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında Avrupa'da ortaya çıkan sosyal, siyasi ve ekonomik gelişmeler bilim, felsefe ve sanat alanında etkili olurken, edebiyatta da Realizm ve Natüralizm akımlarına rastlanır. Fransa kökenli bir akım olan Natüralizm Realizm akımına bir tepki niteliğinde doğmamış, aksine bu akımı daha da ileriye götürmüş ve o zamana kadar edebiyat alanında işlenmemiş konulara yeni bir boyut kazandırmıştır. Bu akımla birlikte yaşamın çirkin yönleri ve alt sınıfların içinde bulunduğu yaşam koşulları tüm detayları ile birlikte resmedilmiştir. Bununla birlikte İspanya'da hayatın yalnız kötü gerçeklerini yansıttığı için çirkin edebiyatı damgası yiyen Natüralizm yeni ve farklı ürünler vererek edebiyatın önünü açan bir gelişme olarak da görülmüştür. Bu çalışmada İspanya'da büyük tartışmalara neden olmuş, hakkında birçok gazete yazısı yazılmış ve konferanslarda tartışma konusu yapılmış Natüralizm akımının nasıl karşılandığı ve ne gibi tepkilere yol açtığını incelenecektir. ABSTRACT:While the social, political and economic developments that emerged in Europe in the second half of the century XIX were influential in the field of science, philosophy and art, the currents of Realism and Naturalism are encountered in literature. Naturalism, a French-origin movement, was not born as a reaction to the current of Realism but on the contrary it took this current further and gave a new dimension to the unprocessed issues in literature until that time. Along with this movement, the ugly aspects of life and the living conditions of the lower classes are depicted with all the details. However, naturalism, which is a sign of ugly literature in Spain because it reflects only the bad facts of life, has been seen as a development that opens up the front of literature by giving new and different products.This study is going to analyse how Naturalism movementwhich led to great discussions in Spanish literatüre as wellas being discussed in many conferences and about which a number of newspaper articles were penned, was met and what kind of reactions it aroused.
