Today, due to the development of internet and communication technologies, social media tools that provide communication and sharing opportunities among people have also developed. Although the Internet has a history of about 70 years, it has gained more importance with the use of social media and significant changes have been observed in the last 15-20 years. Today, people spend most of their lives dealing with the internet or technological tools. As smartphones are multifunctional and portable like a pocket computer, programs and software are constantly developing in line with the needs of people. These tools are generally called social media. Social Media is defined as a media platform that includes applications and web pages that enable people to share and communicate in real time. Social network addiction is used to refer to people who spend a lot of time using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other forms of social media. The use of social networking sites redefines the sense of belonging and the way users belong. Therefore, it has become the cornerstone of modern communication and connection. The aim of this study is to reveal the effects of social media addiction and solutions. For this purpose, it is aimed to reveal the causes and consequences of social media addiction and suggestions for reducing or preventing addiction. The research was designed in a descriptive model since the effects of social media addiction and solutions were tried to be revealed. The target group of the research consists of scientific studies and results of related literature. For this reason, the studies on social media dependency and solution suggestions in the research express the target audience of the research. In the collection of the research data, firstly the relevant literature was searched and the studies that were related to the subject and which would be the source of the research were determined. Then, based on the research, the concept of social media is defined and the meaning of addiction is expressed. As a result of the research, it was stated that social media addiction has social, psychological, biological and cultural aspects. In addition, suggestions were made to eliminate social media addiction. Therefore, it may be useful to give seminars about the negative effects of social media addiction and time control, and to give information about how to use social media in the form of public spots.
