Reading book improves one's vocabulary, improves reasoning skills, improves analytical thinking and dialogue skills. The person who reads the book has a broad perspective and a rich vocabulary. Having a rich vocabulary leads to an increase in the general culture level of the person and to develop effective speaking skills. When the habit of reading books of Turkish society is examined, it was become clear that there was no reading society. About reading book Turkey is seen to take place behind many countries compared with other countries. The main reason why the Turkish people are unable to develop reading habit is that the readiness to read is not fulfilled. Factors related to readiness to read: Oral readings made by the parent to the child, child to be a model of parents, keeping reading material at home, to encourage the child to use these materials. The most important of these is the readings made by the parents to the child who is not going to school. This study is a literature review. The aim of this study was to determine the level of what is in people's reading habits in Turkey, to reveal the main reason why they cannot acquire reading habits and to provide solution suggestions.
