In the 18th century, with the spread of the industrial revolution in England throughout the world, cities began to change.Factors that shaped the pre-industrial cities; religion, traditions, common ways of life, decisions of the central authority, etc.After the industrial revolution, which was an economic and social turnpoint, cities formed as industrial production and capital-based economic centers.As a result of this revolution, new urban systems began to form in the 19th century.The separation of public and private spaces has affected the cities and led to the cities' re-planning.The industrial areas, centers and residential areas created in previous urban planning work have begun to lose their function over time.The market power revealed by capitalism, the industrial movements that the population began to migrate from rural areas to cities, and the rapid population growth caused the concentration in cities.Planned large and small industrial areas, residential areas and urban centers have entered the city and population due to the growing growth, and the urban tissue has begun to be distorted.In addition, the development of technology has also led to the loss of functioning of the industrial fields left in the center.At this point, the work has begun to increase the amount of green spaces in cities, to meet the recreational needs of the citizens, to contribute to the aesthetic image of the city, to provide the city with industrial spaces that have lost their function.In recent years, the old industrial areas remaining in the city centers are re-evaluated with sustainable plan decisions to be transformed into urban areas according to the needs.These decisions include projects and practices that are abandoned under the name of urban transformation and aimed at giving old urban areas a new identity from a socio-cultural, economic and physical point of view.The aim of the study is to emphasize the importance of urban recreation areas for the city, to propose a plan for the transformation of an example industrial area that has lost its function into a recreation area and to discuss the impact of this transformation on the city.In the framework of the study, the city, urban open green spaces have been defined, the functions of urban open green spaces have been studied, the concept of recreation, recreation activities and the benefits they provide.The concept of industry and the historic process of industrial fields have been studied by examples of industrial fields (brownfields) and transformation processes that have lost their function in today's urban transformation projects.Natural and cultural data related to the work area, the study of the construction plans according to the population and green spaces analyzed, the park function desired to be granted to the area according to all these data, and the use plans proposed in this direction, the effects of the recreational transformation of the area to the city were discussed.
