Current account deficit and unemployment are among the main economic problems, especially for developing countries. Under normal conditions, an improvement in the current account may reduce the unemployment rate. However, as a result of weak growth performance, an improvement in the current account may increase the unemployment rate. In this study, the causality relationship between the current account balance and the unemployment rate is tested by using data from the panel data analysis for the upper-middle ıncome countries in the period of 1991-2017. Panel causality test findings show that vary across the countries.
