Introduction: With the developing technology, the levels of physical activity are predicted to decline, especially in young people. It is also known that the quality of sleep is reduced. The aim of our study is to study the difference and relationship between the level of physical activity and the quality of sleep between regular dancing university students and non-dancing university students.Method: Students studying at the University of Istanbul were included in the study. The demographic information of the participants was questioned by the demographic information form. The physical activity status of the participants was assessed by the international physical activity survey-short form (ipaq-sf), which provides information about the physical activity level and the metabolic equivalent (met) used, while the quality of sleep was assessed by the pittsburgh sleep quality index (puki) consisting of 11 questions. The statistical analysis of the data was carried out using the spss 20.00 program.findings: the study included 56 volunteers (50 women, 6 men) with an average age of 19.84±1.33 years.A significant relationship between the quality of sleep and the level of physical activity and the text of the participants was established (r= -0,292, p= 0,029; r=-0,377, p=0,004 respectively). There was a statistically significant difference between the groups ipaq-sf met, ipaq-sf category and puki’s scores in favour of the group that regularly danced (respectively p=0,001, p=0,001, p=0,001).Discussions and results: Physically active students were found to have better quality of sleep, regularly dancing students were more active and their quality of sleep was also higher. We consider that students with sleep problems that are not based on any disease should increase their levels of physical activity.
