DIGITAL MOTHERNESS IN NEW MEDIA APPLICATIONS: AN ANALYSIS OF WEBSITES
Pregnancy is a period when women's need for information increases, and it is known that women use the internet to meet their information needs in this process. Developing technology and the internet have created various fields of information acquisition. As an example of these areas, websites appear as an application where individuals meet their information needs and use it as a chat platform. Women in the process of motherhood use websites for various reasons. This study was carried out in order to determine in which areas women need information by examining the message contents shared by women on selected websites. 3 websites determined in line with this target were analyzed by content analysis method. The reason why content analysis is preferred in this study is to obtain the findings by digitizing the data obtained by creating certain titles and categories of the subject discussed. The universe of the research consists of websites built on motherhood. The sample consists of anneysen.com, anneburada.com, anneolmak.com sites determined by purposive sampling method. 1421 messages shared in the question-answer section of the websites included in the sample between 01.10.2022 and 31.12.2022 were analyzed by content analysis method. These accounts included in the sample consist of 9 categories: birth, infant/child care, breastfeeding/breast milk, pregnancy/pregnancy, women's health/diseases, family planning methods, grief process, doctor/hospital advice and other categories. According to the data obtained as a result of the analysis, the most sharing was made in the other category on anneysen.com, in the other category on anneolmak.com, and in the pregnancy/pregnancy category on anneburada.com. When all categories were evaluated, the most sharing of message content was made in the pregnancy/pregnancy category. According to the results obtained, women mostly have fears, curiosity and information needs regarding this period. The limitations of the research are 5,827 messages that were not included in the study, which were included as spam on the anneysen.com website. Since the messages section of the Anneburada.com website is also included in the application, the data was obtained by downloading the application. The determined sites were examined and compared by two researchers between 09.01.2023 and 15.01.2023. It was observed that there were no spammy messages on anneysen.com, which was re-examined on 02.03.2023.
