(AI):
Green tourism, as a sustainable form of travel, has garnered increasing interest from researchers due to its potential to contribute to environmental conservation and the development of local communities. This paper aims to map the growth of research on green tourism through a detailed scientometric analysis of 8,397 publications indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection. The study employs VOSviewer software to explore publication trends, collaborations between authors and institutions, and the impact of research in this field. Our research seeks to highlight the temporal dynamics of publications, identifying periods of accelerated growth and the evolution of topics of interest in green tourism research. Additionally, the types of published works (articles, reviews, book chapters) and the geographical distribution of research are examined, uncovering the major contributions of different regions and institutions. Co-author and institutional affiliation networks are mapped to understand how international collaborations have advanced the field. Furthermore, the most impactful papers and authors are identified based on citations, along with the most influential journals and research domains. Maps generated with VOSviewer provide a visual perspective on concept relationships, identifying keyword co-occurrences and emerging themes. The findings from this analysis underscore the strategic importance of interdisciplinary and collaborative research in green tourism, emphasizing its role in promoting sustainability and innovation. The study also highlights emerging research directions and existing gaps, offering a robust foundation for guiding future studies in this domain. This paper contributes to understanding the complexity and dynamics of green tourism research and provides essential insights for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers involved in sustainable development.
