ACTIVITIES OF PUBLIC CENTERS TOWARDS SKI SPORTS AND TRAINING
The Republic of Turkey, which replaced the Ottoman Empire, continued on its way with a single-party government approach between 1923 and 1950. The Progressive Republican Party was founded in 1924, but was closed by the government in 1925 in accordance with the Takrir-i Sükûn Law, on the grounds that it was related to the Sheikh Sait Uprising. The Free Republican Party, which was founded by Fethi Bey on 12 August 1930 after Mustafa Kemal and was dissolved on 17 November 1930, received more votes than expected in the local elections held in the year it was founded, pitting the government and the opposition against each other. The success of the opposition has revealed that there is a disconnect between the government and the people. One of the steps taken to eliminate this problem was the establishment of Community Centers and Public Chambers. Community Centers carried out activities as the foundation of the Republican People's Party between 1932 and 1951. The number of Community Centers, divided into nine separate branches: Language and Literature, Fine Arts, Performance, Sports, Social Aid, Public Classrooms and Courses, Library and Publications, Peasantry, Museum and Exhibition branches, reached 479. In this study, based on archive documents, the contributions made by Community Centers to ski sports and ski training in Erzurum, Kars, Sarıkamış, Ağrı, Doğu Bayezit, Ardahan, Muş, Elazığ, Bitlis, Hakkâri and other regions where winter conditions are experienced were evaluated.
