The drought caused by global climate change and the decline in water resources is the main issue in many countries of the world. In particular, the countries in the Mediterranean region will get into water deficiency and the measures that need to be taken, despite this situation, are often made.On the other hand, problems such as rapid industrialization, natural resources destruction, environmental pollution, unplanned unhealthy and broken urbanization lead to unreversible changes in our cities. The green spaces in the environment that changes and turns the name of urban life are constantly decreasing, while the betonization is increasing.Green spaces are among the most effective planning-design elements in directing and evaluating the water process in urban spaces.Green areas are effective areas in repairing damaged balances and developing ecological solutions. However, when these fields are designed by traditional methods, they are often not ecologically, economically and functionally sustainable. These negatives are more observed in metropolitan cities such as Istanbul in Turkey. Therefore, in particular in the planning, design and management processes of urban green spaces; the water consumption of plants should be reviewed and adopted landscape-regulating approaches such as green energy, the use of natural plant cover, the efficient use of water. In this context, the objective of the study was defined as “the design of living places in the protection-use balance for today and for the future by building the human-natural-economic triangle in the healthiest way.”Starting from here, in this study, the concept and principles of the curcumin landscape are explained as an ecological planning-design approach in cities, and the examples of the project are discussed in Istanbul and Krasnodar. Keywords: landscape, urban design, ecological planning, landscape architecture, Istanbul 1 prof. dr.
