English is among the most preferred languages in both the Ottoman and the Republic of Turkey and in the educational institutions and in the community. The teaching of English as a foreign language from the Ottoman to the present has a historic development process. In this process of development, the books written in this field before the literary revolution, the studies on the methods and techniques followed in the books are not enough to be lost.Due to this lack, this study, which used the method of document examination, studied the dialogues in English and Turkish (Dialogue in English and Turkish), published in 1859 by Mahmut Lord in London. The work, which has 149 pages, is a principle of establishment of the English language based on one skill in teaching to those who speak Turkish as a second. The work aimed at improving the ability to speak simply consists of two main sections. These two main sections (easy dialogues/familiar dialogues) contain a total of 97 mutual speech texts. These texts are prepared for all individuals who want to learn English without any specific target audience.Dialogue is sufficient for those who will use English as a means of communication in everyday life.In the early days of the work, it was printed on two columns on one page.
