Are Temperatures Rising In Mersin? An Assessment In The Context Of Global Warming (AI)
Climate is a dynamic process, and it is constantly changing in time and space scales.A large part of the earth is exposed to variations due to normal climate in short or long periods. The short-term climate change (variation) represents the difference between the long-term average of any climate element’s annual measurement. The idea of global climate change, expressed in the form of global temperatures rise and rain patterns change, is highly accepted by scientists. The efforts to understand the climate and change that directly or indirectly affects human life have moved to a different dimension, along with the increasing accumulation of knowledge and technological developments today.Turkey is in a sensitive position where climate change can occur in the short and long term. Therefore, it is believed that the reactions of the regions to climate change will be shaped according to these sensitivity rates. Therefore, the trends are important, and in this study the aim is to reveal the trend state of temperatures in mersin. In the study, man-kendall and linear regression techniques were used, which were a nonparametric test of the monthly temperature values of the 1970-2017 meteorological station of Mersin. The results showed a significant increase in the 99% confidence range in mercin at annual maximum and minimum temperatures.
