Özet Türkiye'de ve dünyada yaşlı nüfus oranı her geçen gün biraz daha artmaktadır. Söz konusu sosyo-demografik değişimin olumlu veya olumsuz seyrinden öte doğasının anlaşılmasında büyük bir fayda görülmektedir. Bu nedenle, bu çalışmada ilk önce göçle birlikte kentlerde artan yaşlı nüfusundaki değişim üzerinde durularak bugüne ışık tutulmuştur. Sonrasında ise yerinde yaşlanan insanların göçle birlikte geldikleri kentlerde nasıl algılandıkları üzerinde durulmuştur. Göç gerontolijisi ve mekân gerontolojisi bağlamında ele alınan bu meselede göçün yerinden ettiği yaşlıların yeni durumuna dikkat çekilmiştir. Göçmen yaşlıların durumu en az yaşlı kurumlarında adeta "mekânın mahkûmları" olan yaşlıların vaziyeti kadar dikkat çeker hale gelmiştir. Özellikle yoksulluk halleriyle çarpıldığında katmerli hale gelen göçmen yaşlıların sorunları alarm verecek düzeye erişmiştir. Bu bildirimizde farklı etnik gruplara ve geçmişlere sahip göçmen yaşlıların gittikleri yerlerde yaşama stratejileri üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu yaşam stratejilerinin diyasporada yaşayan yaşlılara yeni mekân tasavvurlarına bir katkıda bulunup bulunmadığına bakılmıştır, çünkü göçmen yaşlıların, yeni mekân tasavvurlarıyla, artık yaşlanılacak mekânı benimseme noktasında, karşılaştıkları sorunların üstesinden daha rahat gelebilecekleri öngörülmektedir. Bu bildiride "Göç gerontolojisi bağlamında mekânın göçmen yaşlılar üzerindeki etkisi nedir?" sorusundan yola çıkılarak mekân gerontolojisinin teorik çerçevesi sunulmuştur. Böylece bu bildiri, göçmen yaşlılar üzerinde geride bırakılan mekânın/sılanın ve gelinen 1 Doç.
