REVIEW OF OPERATINGROOM NURSING
Introduction: The operating room, where the surgical procedure performed to restore human health takes place, is a difficult and risky unit to work in. Nurses working in this unit have very important roles, responsibilities and duties. Aim: To examine operating room nursing with its positive and negative aspects by determining the duties, powers and responsibilities of operating room nursing. Methods: The keyword "Operating Room Nursing" was searched in Google Scholar databases and the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) National Thesis Center database. In the results obtained, Turkish articles were examined. Results: Operating room nurses, who work as sterile and mobile nurses in the operating room unit, are responsible for the patient and materials from pre-operative preparations to intraoperative and post-operative preparations, and they also have duties such as ensuring sterilization during surgery.When the researches were examined, it was determined that nurses work in a closed environment and there is a decrease in their social relations due to the closed environment, and problems such as dissatisfaction, depression, and adjustment disorders can be observed. It has been stated that existing problems and problems cannot be solved with managers due to factors such as fear of changing units. Negativity such as surgeon-induced anger and tension is observed in operating room nurses. Along with personal development, positive characteristics such as coping with stress, spiritual pleasure, feeling valuable and job satisfaction have also been identified for operating room nursing. Conclusion: The duties, powers and responsibilities of operating room nurses, and the positive and negative aspects of operating room nursing were examined. More clinical, academic and institutional studies need to be done to correct the negative aspects.
