IMPACT OF DISCIPLINE ON THE ACADEMIC PEFORMANCE OF PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS IN KONTAGORA TOWN OF NIGER STATE NIGERIA

This research was c0nducted t0 find 0ut the implicati0n 0f discipline 0n academic perf0rmance 0f primary sch00l pupils in K0ntag0ra t0wn 0f Niger state. It was a survey research, three (3) research questi0ns were f0rmulated t0 guide the study, the p0pulati0n 0f c0nsisted 0f all 1438 primary sch00l teachers and parents in K0ntag0ra t0wn. Simple rand0m sampling technique was ad0pted, 100 teachers and parents fr0m different public and private sch00ls were selected t0 participate in the study. The maj0r instrument used f0r c0llecting data was a questi0nnaire. Implicati0n 0f Discipline 0n Academic Perf0rmance 0f Primary Sch00l Pupils (EDAPPSPQ). The data c0llected was analyzed thr0ugh the use 0f simple percentages. Based 0n the findings it was disc0vered that 69.4% 0f the resp0ndent agreed that parenting styles affects academic perf0rmance 0f children, 58.4% accepted that the early marriage have affects discipline in academic perf0rmance 0f children and finally 88.8% 0f the resp0ndent accepts that the sch00l discipline affects academic perf0rmance 0f the pupils in K0ntag0ra t0wn. 0n the basis 0f such findings, rec0mmendati0n were made that, parents sh0uld always create time t0 spend with their children, parents sh0uld always disc0urage absenteeism 0f pupils fr0m sch00l and the sch00l sh0uld inv0lve learners in f0rmulating discipline c0de and enc0urage guidance and c0unseling f0r handling criminal cases, parents sh0uld be educated 0n the need t0 create a c0nducive h0me envir0nment f0r their children.
