With the changing population structure in both the world and Turkey and the increasing ageing rate of the population, the phenomenon of aging and aging has begun to gain very significant dimensions. The increase in social well-being and average income has enabled individuals to live healthier and longer years.Ageing, which brings many problems in both individual and economic terms, can be defined as the occurrence of physical, cognitive and social functional disabilities and decreases in the individual as a result of the general increase in calendar age.The progress and importance of scientific and technological developments in the age we live has not only increased the living standard of society but also led to the change in the demographic structure of society, especially the end of increased health services and the extension of human life. Thus, the extension of human life and the decrease in birth rates have led to an increase in the elderly population in Turkey, like many countries around the world. Thus, as developed Western societies, Turkey has also begun to enter among the rapidly aging countries. This study is based on the qualitative data of a field research between the van and the western, which is described as the east of Turkey in the changing population structure and which is more popular with its traditional attitudes and values and is known to be the dominant of a modern, secular lifestyle. The study aimed at addressing the views of individuals living in van and muğla, the two major regions of Turkey, on the cultural level of ageing, the meanings they charge on ageing, the perceptions and attitudes of the elderly individuals. In this context, perceptions and attitudes towards the elderly in Turkey have been studied through quantitative and qualitative data.
