Malaria remains one of the most devastating infectious diseases, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions. The application of biotechnology in malaria research has revolutionized our understanding of the disease, the parasite Plasmodium, and its transmission via Anopheles mosquitoes. This article explores the role of biotechnology in malaria research, highlighting advancements in vaccine development, drug discovery, genetic modification of mosquitoes, and molecular diagnostics. Biotechnology has also been instrumental in understanding parasite resistance, host-pathogen interactions, and disease transmission dynamics. Future research, powered by biotechnology, holds the potential to drastically reduce the global burden of malaria, paving the way for more effective interventions and the eventual eradication of the disease.
