In this qualitative study, 29 lighting artifacts obtained during the archaeological excavations of the Harput Central Castle between 2004- 2019 were examined. These are examples of 21 unglazed and glazed oil lamps and 8 glazed candlesticks made of terracotta. In this article, the historical development of oil lamps and candlesticks is briefly mentioned. Lighting tools found later in Harput Citadel; dough structure, dough, slip, glaze color, typology and period. Samples are classified according to their shape. In the excavations of Harput Citadel, four different typologies of lamps were found. Candlesticks are produced in three different typologies according to the bottom form.In addition, it has been compared with similar contemporary examples seen in other excavations in Turkey and outside Turkey. In the excavations carried out so far in the Harput Central Castle, no kiln for ceramic making has been found. However, many tripods, semi-finished base and bowl fragments, glazed/non-glazed seasonings with one or two holes, and kiln materials such as shelf legs were found. For this reason, we think that all oil lamps and candlesticks, except for the oil lamp group, which are placed directly into the chamber, are Harput production. The lamps and candlesticks we examined were dated between the 12th and 19th centuries. As the excavations continue in Harput Castle, new lighting tools will be obtained.
