Understanding the Digital and Skill Divide: Implications for the New Digital Age on the Digital and Skill Gaps

The inequality that exists in the information society shows itself in the form of a “digital divide”. The main causes of the digital divide are seen as differences in the access to the internet, information tools and lack of or limited digital skills. Considering the ever-increasing importance of the digital divide, in this study, the literature is reviewed, and the concept of digital divide and its importance are explained. Afterwards, the findings of the review were analyzed and the shortcomings within the scope of digital skills research were highlighted, and future possible research and policy suggestions are presented for researchers and policy makers
