Altınova is the district where we first completed the field work within the scope of the “Medieval and Turkish-Islamic Period Survey in Yalova and Its Districts”, which we started in 2018 with the permission of the Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums. In this context, the historical past of the region was tried to be revealed by scanning the historical artifacts and settlements in the villages, then the town and finally the district center. It has been determined that today’s districts and villages examined are settlements established by Caucasian and Balkan immigrants, and a social complex built by Hersekzade Ahmet Pasha in Hersek, which is located on the coastal part of Altınova, at the monumental level, belonging to the Turkish period before the 19th century, has survived to the present day. The tombstones in the villages examined in the survey are important in terms of giving the history of the settlements, and our correspondence with local governments and relevant institutions continues so that they are not destroyed or destroyed and can be exhibited in safe areas. In Altınova, there are rural settlements belonging to the Byzantine period, as well as the ancient city of Helenopolis, which is depicted on maps as Dedeler Tepe, in the Hersek Neighborhood on the coast of the region, and Çobankale located in the Yalakdere Valley, which is understood from the remains of buildings that were inhabited in the Middle Ages. In our study, the results of our threeyear survey, the findings, will be tried to be shared with examples
