In this statement, as a member of the scientist class in the Ottoman Hanefi-Maturidi line, the role of Imam Birgivi in the formation of the book-official religion against the popular people's religion has been studied.According to the biographical approach of sociology, the study of the thoughts that have been materialized in the writings of Birgivi to date is not "necessary" but "sufficient" in terms of understanding this Ottoman world that has become quite popular.The consideration of the religious and socio-political context he grows in this regard is extremely important for the sufficient understanding of the opinions of M. Birgivi.To illustrate the cultural-religious world of birgivi, it is necessary to refer to the elite community, which is the network of relationships that are formed by the brilliants representing various mental positions in a particular time and place.Before all, by Weber’s expression, this religious elite (virtouse) group has contacted its membership in the class of scientists, cultivation in the tasavvufi culture, intellectual attitude and intellectual activities.Thus more focused on social religious problems and spread to the broad geography of the Ottoman boundaries of the new Muslims with their efforts to provide a religious, practical and moral unity, the book represents the medrese tradition in the formation of the religion prof. dr., heroanmarash milchü i·mam university i·theology faculty, hebodur@ksu.edu.tr.
