In this study, it was tried to determine the opinions of the science teacher candidates who had the task of letter writing activity about the writing process. The study group consisted of 45 science students studying at Giresun University. This study was carried out according to qualitative research methods. A prospective science teacher was asked to write a letter to a friend about the ways of knowing within the scope of scientific research methods and to answer questions about the writing activity. The questions consisted of 4 questions to evaluate the process of writing letters. The analysis of the obtained data was evaluated with content analysis. Tables and codes have been created for the obtained data. Percentages and frequencies of themes and codes are given in tables. Necessary explanations are given below the tables. Analysis of data reveals that teacher candidates have difficulty in writing. Teacher candidates stated that they focused on writing the letter and writing rules. Prospective teachers thought that writing had a positive effect on their learning and enhanced their knowledge. Teachers thought that writing letters were important for the use of a language to be understood by their friends and that writing letters in this way were fun. In addition, the teacher candidates thought that writing influenced their attitudes and behaviors and developed their self-expression and communication skills. Based on the positive results of writing letters from the study, it can be recommended that teachers use letter writing from learning activities.
