As a person living in Istanbul, from the resume to the republic and afterwards, Hussein Rahmi Gürpınar (1864Gürpınar) contributed to the world of thought of the Turkish society, and in many publications he left (1944), he studied the Turkish society, made promotions in this regard and tried to give ideas about the circumstances of the period. In his work, called the crazy philosopher (1964) he tried to reflect the influences of Europe's enlightenment in the last period of the Ottoman state and the characteristics of society, as well as the influence of newly entered positivism in the country.Gürpınar’s works not only concern economic, political or military events for a prosperous society, but also emphasize that cultural elements should be addressed and studied. The dogmatic thoughts that are present in our culture, and that hit the social developments, speak of the mental level that is attempted to illuminate in the light of science, by turning into the western beliefs. It demonstrates the need for the development of a consciousness based on mind and science through the influence of positivism and tries to create the moral objects in the traditional structure in this framework. The activity of changing the mind that he tried to do from time to time still holds an important place in our agenda today. When we look at the state of philosophy in our country and in the Turkish thought, and especially the studies that have been done in recent years, it appears that we are trying to understand the meaning of Greek philosophy and we are trying to improve it.Now more frequent studies have begun to discuss the possibility of making philosophy in the Turkish language, the conditions of developing philosophy in our country. Thus, by moving from these discussions in this study, the work of Gürpınar will be studied and we will try to track how philosophy in our country is addressed according to the circumstances of that period and how philosophy and philosophy are viewed today.
