Community groups in Serdang Bedagai, North Sumatra experience several problems with mangrove planting, such as limited knowledge in mangrove cultivation and Trigona itama of bee cultivation, mangrove planting is not optimal, and they have not managed the mangrove produce appropriately. Mangrove forests are formations of specific plants, and are generally found growing and developing in protected coastal areas in tropical and subtropical areas. Cultivating Trigona itama (Kelulut honey bees) is one way to utilize productive mangrove forests. Bee cultivation is a business opportunity that has not yet been developed in Bagan Kuala Village, Serdang Bedagai which has the opportunity to provide additional income for fishermen. Trigona sp bees come from Asia, they are characterized by their black color and smaller body size compared to bees from the genus Apis. Most of these bee species live in colonies, the number of bee colonies can be influenced by the type/species, the size of the nest, the age of the colony, and also environmental factors such as humidity, temperature and altitude. Apart from that, there has not been much detection of pest attacks in the mangrove ecosystem at the seedling level. This pest attack usually results in death of mangrove plants. The pest that most attacks mangrove plants in Indonesia is Aulacaspis marina (Homoptera, Family Coccoidea), Research and Service Centre (RSC) University of Sumatera Utara assisted villages is carried out in the form of socialization, training and mentoring of Trigona itama as honey livestock and the use of management of reusable mangrove products.
