Backgroun End-stage renal disease (ESRD) is a growing public health concern in Nigeria, with a high prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) among patients. Objective To examine the existing evidence on the effects of aerobic exercise on cardiovascular outcomes in patients with ESRD in Nigeria. Methodology Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that involved patients with ESRD in Nigeria, aerobic exercise interventions, and cardiovascular outcomes. Results and Discussion The meta-analysis included 5 studies with a total sample size of 540 patients. Aerobic exercise significantly reduced systolic and diastolic blood pressure, improved lipid profiles, and reduced the risk of cardiovascular events. The results suggest that aerobic exercise is a beneficial adjunctive therapy for patients with ESRD, improving cardiovascular outcomes and reducing the risk of cardiovascular events. The mechanisms by which aerobic exercise improves cardiovascular outcomes are likely multifaceted. Conclusion and Recommendations Aerobic exercise is a beneficial adjunctive therapy for patients with ESRD, improving cardiovascular outcomes and reducing the risk of cardiovascular events. Incorporating exercise into the management of patients with ESRD is crucial. Future studies should aim to investigate the optimal duration, frequency, and intensity of aerobic exercise for improving cardiovascular outcomes in patients with ESRD in Nigeria.
